THE MONEY TREE

AKA:	Pachira or Good Luck Tree
Planting	Plant indoor or outdoors depending on climate, temperatures above 60-85F. Indoors in bright light, outdoors in sun or partial shade. Avoid direct sun if possible as the leaves do burn. Their height ranges from the size of bonsais up to a full sized tree. Their appearance is characteristic as their trunks are large and usually braided together (usually 3 or 5 trunks together). Their leaves resemble the shape of a human hand with five fingers / leaves. To find one with 7 leaves is considered a sign of great luck & fortune in your future. The reason for braiding the trunks is that, the leaves will bring in the money and the braided trunks will act as a cage where the money gets trapped. The same theory also calls for red, gold or silver ribbons to be tied on the plants. Also placing coins on the trunks are said to enhance the plant’s qualities.
Special Needs	Flourishes best when received as a gift. Tender loving care...or like any houseplant, the more you ignore it, the better it will do to get your attention.	Bloom of a mature plant	How I began..
Watering	When you think of it. Once a week, or when soil is dry.
Harvest	Simplest harvest there is, just enjoy the good luck it brings. Also a chestnut like fruit from mature plants.
Note:	The plant on the right was given to us when Greenwiz was just starting, it was barely a foot tall then. Now it is over 4 ft, not including the pot!
